Quick question regarding the blog's current :
Do you like the 3-columns or should I go to two?
I've been considering changing to a right-bar only 2 column , but I'm not sure. It'll probably look cleaner, but won't keep some of the goods near the top of the page (webcam, currently, etc.). tabmd.com
There are some blogs that look spiffareeno with 3 columns, but there are certainly no lack of blogs that I like that have 2. Oh, the decisions, the decisions...
UPDATE 19:51
I've changed to the 2-column and pruned my sidebar sections a bit... most likely going to move the content around more. Let's see how it works out. If things look wonky, try flushing your browser cache or reloading. I may still be tinkering with it tonight.
i like the webcam pic, even though you never get naked
j/k!!!!!
i like the webcam, listening and recent comments boxes...everything else can stay or go and i wouldn't notice
transmitted by Jack on February 25, 2003 08:42 PMI'm partial to three columns ... even though I only have two. I USED to have three, back when it was hosted on my own server ... now it's not. *sob* Thanks a lot for dredging up horrible old memories! *cry*
transmitted by tj on February 25, 2003 08:56 PMPersonally, I like the 2-column format (obviously since I use it on my site). It just has a cleaner look and feel in general IMO.
transmitted by Matt on February 25, 2003 09:00 PMYeah, I'm with the two-column peeps here.
transmitted by Tom Bridge on February 25, 2003 09:21 PMProblem is, with CSS, so many of the blogs out there pretty much look the same.
Sure the colors are different and all, but the general logic of the layout is the same.
Keep the 3 column layout.
But add the following:
Blend the simplicity of 2003 with the utter awe and wonder of 1995!!!
transmitted by Naladahc on February 26, 2003 01:37 AMalso a two-columner. But you have a bit too much stuff for two columns. So...either jettison some stuff, or stick with three.

That's not CSS's fault....that's blogger laziness for not designing their own original innovative template
"6. Dancing Jesus if you can find him"
indeed, and javascript that turns the pointer that leaves a trail of pixie dust too please.
Hi! I like everything the way it is now except for the page refresh thing--especially when I'm reading a long entry. It takes me back to the top, then I have to scroll down and find where I was! :x
transmitted by Michael Park on February 26, 2003 09:40 AMthe 3 column is better since you have so much content there. if you reduce the content, then a 2 column approach would be nice.
maybe break out some of the content into sub-pages. sometimes less is more. =)
transmitted by grant on February 26, 2003 09:58 AMLess is always more, no matter what - except for money maybe. And sex. Oh, and beer. Ok, nevermind.
transmitted by Mike on February 26, 2003 11:13 AMWhy are you worrying about changing the layout when your .currently. box hasn't budged in a coupla weeks? :)
transmitted by 2465 on February 26, 2003 02:29 PMGonna have to agree with Michael Park: drop the page reloading. It drives me crazy!
transmitted by wink on February 26, 2003 02:40 PMI totally forgot about the page refresh thingy. I will fix that, for sure.
Definitely a lot of streamlining to happen soon. I just hafta do it... then I can fix the .currently. box. nyah.
I will deeply consider nala's suggestions. Dancing Jesus sounds perfect.
transmitted by courtney on February 26, 2003 04:24 PM3 is great for keeping stuff near the top...you can try out both 3 and 2 columns on my site...just different style sheets. Give it a try! Click on one of the "Colorize" button in the upper left column (2 = 2 column, 3 = 3 column). Have fun!
transmitted by Tommy on February 26, 2003 06:03 PMHmm, I think the right column is quite a bit too long right now. Maybe your best bet would be for you to start blogging more! w00t ;)
transmitted by kat on February 26, 2003 08:56 PMworkin' on it, chickie... workin' on it.
i wonder if i can blog from my treo...
transmitted by courtney on February 26, 2003 09:46 PMDepending on the amount of stuff you have, either 2 or 3 works. I have seen a very few beautiful 3 column blogs, more 2 column blogs. You could use a script to change the layouts so people get to choose what they like if you get adventurous. I prefer simple myself. I've seen one column blogs that worked, had links along row at top, but it didn't have all the cool goodies like webcam. Probably stick with 2 column is the best. It looks nice now.
transmitted by mog on February 26, 2003 10:25 PMooh. two columns. *much* nicer. spaaaace. :)
transmitted by eric on February 26, 2003 11:57 PMyeah, you figure a minimalist like me would prefer the space, huh? ;)
transmitted by courtney on February 27, 2003 12:10 AMwhere's jesus?
transmitted by Jack on February 27, 2003 04:29 AMthat's a question that many people throughout the ages have asked, jack... you seek redemption?
transmitted by courtney on February 27, 2003 09:15 AMmaybe you get rid of the recent comments and entries, and place the archives list in a droplist or a separate page. that would reduce the right column quite a bit.
too much info on the frontpage can be overwhelming. just my 2 cents.
