I don't really have a lot to say today, mostly cos this is the first week of the Spring Quarter, which in turn makes a very busy geeky chick indeed. Here's some links of interest for the moment: ourmeds.org
Enjoy your Tuesday! :)
The spirit of Aloha lives on in an employee of the Radisson Waikiki Prince Kuhio. A hotel employee, recently named Employee of the Year, donated a kidney to one of his customers!
The gentleman was in need of a kidney transplant. He had told Jose that he had a rare blood type and this made it highly unlikely that a matching donor would be found in time.
The people of Hawai'i never cease to amaze. I miss 'em. :)

Yes, my friends, spring has sprung.
What the heck else did you think I meant... you dirty, dirty person?
It was apparent to me on the first day of spring that my allergies were definitely back. I did not have allergies as a child, but developed them as an adult... I think about 5 years ago, if I remember correctly.
Join me in the quest to fight these damned spring allergies.
Helpful links:
Best of luck to those of you that suffer seasonal allergies, and best wishes to those who have never had them... may they continue to elude you. :)
If you've got a problem (or something that even slightly resembles a problem), there's a support group for you, somewhere out there.
There's even Lip Balm Anonymous, whose mission is "to stay free from lip balm and to help others achieve the same freedom."
A sampling from their self-evaluation:
The site started out as am honest joke, but has turned out to be a useful resource to true, real-life Bonne Bell addicts.
Excellent.

No confession thru texting
from the The Philippine Star

Despite advances in modern communications technology, the Catholic faithful still have to confess face-to-face with the vicars of Christ this Lenten season, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) secretary general Hernando Coronel said yesterday.Coronel said confessions sent via text messaging or other means of modern communication, like e-mail and fax machines, are "unacceptable."

I wonder how the faxed confessionals work? I'm surprised that people fax 'em, seeing that they already use email and SMS. I mean, really... FAX? How early 90's is THAT?

Airport job insecurity: When feds take over, many Filipino screeners will be unemployed.
I find the focus of this article kinda funny. It's true, pretty much all the security screeners at SFO are Filipino... my family has made many the off-color cracks like "nosy pilipinos, always in your business". I know, but hey, it's our own kind, we're allowed, right? ;)
But seriously, folks, I find it a little scary that there were over one thousand NON-CITIZEN security screeners working at airports around the bay area. I had no idea... that's a LOT. I think that this is a job more suited for trained citizens that can communicate well with the people they deal with every day.

The boxing gloves that Wil used in the EFF benefit boxing match, and that Ben drew on, are now up for auction.
What I wanna know now is when Ben is going to put our napkin up for auction.
