My people (the Pennsylvania Dutch) maintain that you not eat eggs on New Years Day, as eggs come from the BACK of a chicken. They further mandate the consuming of Pork and Sauerkraut to celebrate the New Year, as pigs root FORWARD in the dirt with their snouts.

Mmmmm . . . sauerkraut.
