I'm all excited and stuff. Spirited Away opens today in the US, and I'm itching to see it.

"Spirited Away" is the latest film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, best known as the director of great films such as "Princess Mononoke" and "My Neighbor Totoro". If you have never seen his films, I suggest you do so soon! He has been in the business a long time, and has a real knack for engaging storytelling and beautiful cinematography. bmpharmacy.com

A lot of people seem to think that Anime is all cute cute creatures or giant robots or teenage girls in school uniforms. Give it a chance and open your mind! Don't judge Anime at all until you see a Miyazaki film.

So what did you think? I loved it! I saw the subtitled version. It was phenomenal. I'm still thinking about it today.

I wish I coulda seen the subbed version first. It was sitting there on the shelves at my local japanese video rental store, but I never got around to grabbing it.

I loved it, to say the least. I think any Miyazaki fan would. ;) I was in awe... and I actually teared up admiring the beauty of the film's artistry. Amazing, amazing stuff.

I often wonder why no one else ever makes anything as amazing as Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli. I think it's the passion for art and story that makes their films special. American films (and especially animation) are so lacking of that these days...
