Couple Kissing in Train Station
I'm probably an old-fashioned romantic if I'm Couple. Even if I'm not, I still have a flair for older things in life, while enjoying the new. Safety and tradition are old standbys for me, as well as taking things slowly. Beauty, in my eyes, is in the eye of the beholder. medstore-online.com
What piece of photography are you?
Find out at The Stock Photo Quiz.
Aww.
Heh, this one's a pretty silly one. Stock Photos, what quiz will they think of next?
Mondays are usually not the high point of most people's weeks. I am no exception. I really have nothing to say (type?) today. Just winging it for the moment...
I got a Pyro Firewire Webcam off of eBay to use at the office, but I'm not sure how well it'll go over. Some people are paranoid about things like that. Or maybe they'll just think I'm a phr33k for recording selected moments of my life on the internet. *shrug*
Webcams are interesting things. People use them for different purposes, family, business, or pr0n (I hope those are mutually exclusive). I do get a strange IM every once in a while, but I shrug it off. Not like I'm flashing the camera or anything. Just parading my geekiness. :D
No one's commenting on this Blog. Ah well. I blab for blabbing's sake. Aloha.
Well, fine. You just had to post some comment bait, didn't you? ("*SIGH*... No one is commenting on my blog... *bats eyes innocently*")
Actually, saw your cam on FARK some time ago and decided to browse your site. I'd be lying if I said I was an "avid" reader, but I make a point of swinging by every few weeks. I like the layout and colors (visually, I'm tone deaf [tint blind?] - when I was a kid, my mother literally had me tested for color blindness cause I couldn't match clothes to save my life). Did you do all the graphics/buttons yourself (and, yes, I'm too lazy to click through your art links to see if you said so)?
Also, glad you're an asteroid. I think that's what I came out as and I'm pretty sure my wife would test out that way (she's big on Kim Anderson/romance photos, too). Later I reran it and it said I was a Gaunlet adventurer. Aparently, I need food - badly.
So... sorry the ramble, but there are a few lurkers out here who peek at your site now and then.
PS - Your blog software doesn't like my ancient version of Netscape. If it doen't get through, my homepage is http://www.cosmoslink.net/~jokev (for those other lurkers to get me gratuitous hits).
transmitted by jokev on January 28, 2002 07:44 PMWhoo hoo! My plan has worked, I got a comment. ^_^ Mwah ha ha ha...
Courtney needs comments... badly.
What does the blog software do to your Netscape (and what version do you run)? Could you e-mail me a screenshot?
Also, you said you're "tint blind"... does that mean you cannot perceive value in colors, or just plain color blind?
And yes, I created all my graphics & buttons. They're all based on black and white clipart, though. I just made 'em purty.
Thanks for stopping by... Kevin. I like that name. ;) Nice site, BTW.
transmitted by Courtney on January 29, 2002 02:47 PMWhoo hoo! My plan has worked! I got someone to look at my site! ^_^ Mwah ha ha ha...
I'm running Communicator 4.72, since that's what I have here at work (although I'm using IE to post this ;) ). I have screen shots of your blog at
http://www.cosmoslink.net/~jokev/images/blog1.jpg - Note hosed buttons

Couldn't find your EMAIL - thought it'd be easier to just post at my site.
As to "tint blind," I was trying to make a crack similar to "tone deaf." The truth is that I am not color blind. I simply have no fashion sense - even worse than most males. My mother literally did think I was color blind when I was a kid for that reson. Truth is, I was just too geeky to care.
Hah! I *thought* your fiance was a Kevin. We're a scary lot, we are! Just to alleviate any "that's creepy" fears, my wife is a JoAnn, not a Courtney. She has family on Oahu (Aiea) and on Kauai (Kapaa), though.
Glad you like my site. For a (tint blind) bit flipper like me, that's a compliment from a Graphic Artist.
Well, gotta run. Lots of trouble to cause...
transmitted by Kevin on January 29, 2002 04:36 PMOh, yeah... This is probably old hat to you, but there's some very cool public domain engravings here from an old Merriam Webster dictionary. Personally, I like the mechanical gizmos. 'Got a nearly steampunk feel to them.
transmitted by jokev on January 29, 2002 07:40 PMArgh. I didn't write the blog software. Phooey. Now I have to pick it apart. >.
Oh and BTW, geeks don't need to match clothes. They just wear black or something.
That's funny that you're a Kevin and your wife's family has family in Hawaii. ::cue twilight zone music::
I like your site because it has really good content, no nonsense. And thanks for the link to the Pub Domain images. Cool stuff. A designer cannot have too many free images ;)
transmitted by Courtney on January 30, 2002 09:27 AMI'd assumed you'd just grabbed it from elsewhere when you'd mentioned you got it via WilWheaton.net. I figured you'd just send my screenshots to them as a bug report, not pick it over yourself. Most likely, they'll tell you to get a "hey, dummy, upgrade to a real browser!!" sign for your site.
I've been thinking about a blog myself (not that I'd have too much to say...). Where exactly did you get the software from? You mentioned Movable Type (as did Wil) - must it also be installed? Do both go on the host machine or do they just point elsewhere? Since I'm running on an ISP, not my own server, I'm kinda limited to how much I can cram in my CGI directory. Nevertheless, Inquiring Minds Want To Know!!
Again, glad you like the site. This is probably old news, but I came across a photo archive in my Gimp travels (so if you use photoshop you might not have seen these): here (govt/NASA/NOAA stuff - good space and nature stuff).
Finally, until you get me the Blog info, I think I'll commandeer this thread for a blog of my own:
Sorry, but I couldn't fight the blog urge.
transmitted by Kevin on January 30, 2002 02:35 PMYes, I did grab the Blog software from Movable Type. See link on right hand side of blog page. It's fun, it's easy. It slices, it dices, it juliennes! I installed it on my server (hosted elsewhere). You might want to check specs before installing it into your ISP's provided cgi-bin.
I'll take Celebrity sightings for $500, Kevin.
transmitted by Courtney on January 31, 2002 12:53 PMThanks. I peeked at movabletype.org and I'm gonna download it and take a peek.
On the Jeopardy thing, it just seemed so... blogable. Don't you think? *GRIN*
transmitted by Kevin on January 31, 2002 03:14 PMI like this website. It looks cool.
